Canterbury Education & Community Charitable Trust 
The Trust was formed to hold Community events and raise funds for Charity; Cecile and Dion Murphy through their company, Absolutely Everything Limited undertake to manage the activities of the Trust, including the concept, organisation and management of the ROCKONZ Rock and Roll Festival.  Cecile and Dion Murphy (seen above receiving the key to the City of Christchurch from Mayor Garry Moore) are business managers and entertainers whose careers span 50 years. Starting with singing at the Copper Cat (one of Christchurch's first night spots), in 1958, they have entertained people throughout New Zealand and overseas, right up to the present day. Dion, known internationally for his boxing career (winning both Amateur and Professional NZ Light-weight titles), retired undefeated from his professional career, in the late 1960's. All about us The ROCKONZ Rock 'n' Retro Festival is all about fun, nostalgia, "good times" and "happy days" - a retrospective look around the "Rock" era - the late 50's through to the 60's and 70's. ROCKONZ presents opportunities to dress up, join in, listen and dance to, great music which has passed the test of time . The 1950's, 60's and 70's teenage life-style was simple - Rock 'n' Roll music, local dances, watching the girls and guys, sharing fun times, plus gazing with envy at the cars or motorbikes owned by the lucky few. Over the past 50 years, the Rock epoch has flowered, but the original Rock 'n' Roll has maintained its appeal with a broad spectrum of people of all ages. This is enhanced through the attraction of the happy beat of the music, the energy of the dance plus the nostalgia of the stylish classic cars, hotrods and motorbikes. The ROCKONZ Rock 'n' Retro Festival brings all these elements together and is intending to add to the Festival with input from the 80's onwards as the Festival grows.   Cecile and Dion Murphy of the Canterbury Education and Community Charitable Trust are the Directors of the Festival, and are well known as entertainers in their own right, having "served their time" at the Copper Cat in the dreaded 60s. They are supported by their fellow musicians and friends, all working to create a walk down New Zealand's musical memory lane, and to honour those performers who reached the top of their field and brought glamour and excitement to those incredible, but alas bygone, years. ROCKONZ — Why hold the festival ?? The Canterbury Education and Community Charitable Trust's aim is to raise money for charitable purposes. From fund-raising efforts around ROCKONZ 2007, the chosen charity (Conductive Education Canterbury) received $5,000 from the CEC Trust, and from ROCKONZ 2008, a similar amount was granted to Breast and Prostate Cancer charities. This year, in 2009, ROCKONZ is working closely with Canteen to raise funds for the special causes of those young teenagers who deal with cancer as part of their daily lives.  Some ROCKONZ New Zealand Rock Hall of Fame Award winners: ROCKONZ Supporters and Volunteers ROCKONZ is a great occasion and is growing to include all those people who wish to enjoy a family friendly good time and raise funds for great causes. Dion and Cecile acknowledge the input of their team of dedicated friends, fellow musicians, generous sponsors, Rock 'n' Roll Clubs, Car Clubs and interested people, who work whole-heartedly to make the Festival truly an experience to remember. Without their support, the ROCKONZ Rock 'n' Retro Festival would have remained a dream unfulfilled.
